Is it really only 6:30???

I am exhausted. I am surely more exhausted than anyone else has ever been...you only think you have been exhausted...you wouldn't want to be me right now...

Enough melodrama for you?? :)

No, seriously, I am tired. It should definitely by at least 10pm, but it isn't, and thank goodness. I have more work to do before the day is over, and a long week ahead. Is it just me, or is the month of November just CRAZY?? Between work, school things with the boys, Thanksgiving and Christmas looming over me (now, that sounds bad...I love Christmas), the month is just a whirlwind.

There is good news, though, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Even the late, late shows (we had shows through mid-September) should be shipped out this week, with the exception of a few pieces (do not do not do not do not get me started on my tshirt supplier) that will ship next week. Otherwise, that's it...bye Fall/Winter, so long corduroy, nice talking to you turtlenecks...see ya next season, and thank goodness for that!

And now...on to Spring/Summer! We have been busy putting new styles/designs together that you are just going to LOVE (trust me on this...yes, we are doing the smocked suits again...yes, there will be some new things for boys...no, we are not re-using lots of smocking designs...yes, we will have lots more appliques...and no, you CANNOT see pictures yet!! Be patient!).

But first, the Warehouse Sale this weekend. Check out a few pictures we took while getting ready today. They aren't great, but you can get the idea:

Lots of great stuff, and the prices are great...

Don't forget, Reps and Hostesses can shop early (Friday night) if you email us for a VIP Pass. Just send a message requesting one to info@threemommas.com!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells...

I simply cannot believe that it is early November. More amazing is the fact that I am starting to see Christmas displays in windows, in department stores and even when I am grocery shopping. It seems to come earlier each year, and as much as I love the holidays, it makes me anxious to think that Christmas will be here in less than 2 months.

And now, just to add to the anxiety, we are adding a few holiday items to threemommas.com! These are just a few of the items that will be added over the next several days...more to come!

My baby is in K-5....

When did this happen? Some days it hits me as strange that I am a mother - much less the mother of a kindergartener!

How? When? I just got out of college! I am only 23, right?

Right? I mean...well...

Uh, um...no. Guess not.

That would have been...oh, let's see...about TEN YEARS AGO?????!!

I look at this little guy - or not-so-little-guy - just as excited as he can be, in his uniform, complete with belt (his favorite grown-up part) and backpack, and just cannot believe how quickly time passes. It really does seem like just a few years ago my biggest concern was what to wear to the Chi-O date function and if I could pull an all-nighter in preparation for exams. I remember the day he was born and it feels as though it was only a year or two ago, yet there he goes, getting on the school bus, heading to the same campus at which I spent my K-5 year.

Enough sentimentality from me. I know you are all going through it about now, whether yours are starting K, preschool, high school or college. But I have to say, starting school has made me realize that being a mother has truly been the most wonderful, painful, enlightening, comedic, thrilling, adventurous, anxious, nerve-wracking, spontaneous, emotional and happiest experience of my life thus far, and I wake up every day looking forward to (and worrying about) what it will bring next!

Goodnight, my mommy-friends! You are all fantabulous mommas, and I wish you a wonderful week!

Back to School, Back to School...to Prove to Dad...

Did anyone else love Billy Madison?

It is almost time for school to start here in the world of Three Mommas. Our children begin school next week, and I CANNOT believe it. My oldest will be in K-5, and my youngest will be starting his 2-year-old class at his preschool.

When I was growing up, this time of year was, next to Christmas, my very favorite time. All of the excitement and anticipation of the first day of school - who would come back to my class, what the new students would be like, how I would like my teacher. My mother always took us shopping for our back-to-school clothes, supplies, backpacks, etc. We would spend hours at the mall (about an hour away from our house), cramming into dressing room after dressing room after dressing room, trying on jeans, sweaters, cute tops, and everything else.

This was one of the things I was truly looking forward to when my son started K-4 last year. Of course, the school he attends (which happens to be my alma mater) allows only uniforms to be worn, so most of the clothes shopping was strictly online. We did go purchase a few supplies and some new shoes and it was fun. However, I recently found out that this year, we will just be purchasing supplies directly from the school, and they will be placed in his desk on the first day.

I am so bummed!

I feel like the back-to-school shopping was such a rite of passage for me, and now I am missing out on doing this with my son. We did go pick out a new lunchbox (he has one that looks brand new, but I wanted to go purchase SOMETHING to celebrate his new school year). I know that he is thrilled about school and has no idea that this isn't the way back-to-school is for everyone, but I am a little disappointed. Oh well - Mom will have to get over it, huh?

Any ideas for a "tradition" to replace conventional back-to-school shopping? Do any of you run into the same problems? I am kind of struggling with this, and will take all of the advice I can get!

NOT Children's Clothing...But Pretty Cool.

Just read an article in the NY Times about a Web site that allows you to choose clothing, accessories, etc. to coordinate outfits/looks. Apparently it is all the rage right now. I checked it out briefly, and it does seem kind of fun... http://www.polyvore.com/

Join 'J.Crew Aficionadas' on Polyvore

They have items from a variety of lines (from J Crew to Tory Burch to American Eagle) as well as "Celebrity Looks"...looked liked lots of kids had created looks for Miley Cyrus!

What do you guys think? Is this the new way to shop online?

Natural and Non-Toxic...Who Doesn't Like That?

I am not the greenest person in the world, but I do my best.

I recycle.

I buy organic milk.

I buy as much organic produce as is possible in my small GA town.

I won't be in the house when the bug man comes :).

I love Whole Foods (who doesn't?).

And I do worry about the cleaners that I use around the house. So, you can imagine how surprised I was to discover via Facebook (it is magic, I swear) that one of my sorority sisters has developed a line of non-toxic cleaners. I mean, how cool is that? She recently got a new Web site and has her product line available on it (from bathroom cleaners to all-purpose cleaners to wood polish!). For those of you interested, check it out at www.babygirlproducts.com.

Be sure to check out her Youtube video too!!

Slow and Steady...Well, You Know What They Say...

Wins the race...blah, blah, blah.

We have 389 fans. Not bad when you consider it was 381 last night, so I'm not complaining! Keep it up...only 11 more till we reach our goal!

Working from the beach this week, folks...Fall clothes are being made and I'm loving them. It is a bit tough to imagine putting them on children right now, but they are cute!

Shows this week in Greenville, NC; Albany, GA; Birmingham, AL; Various cities in MS; Gadsden, AL...contact us for details, or to book a show in YOUR hometown!

Oh, and check out new items/prices on the Web site...still have to finish updating items/pricing on girls size 4 & up and boys stuff...

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

So it is after 12:30 and I'm still up...

Sometimes, I feel like the only quiet time available is about this time of day. I know I should be in the bed, and I AM sleepy, but for whatever reason, I fight the urge to put my head on the pillow and continue with whatever I am doing...surfing the Web, working on TM stuff, responding to friends, folding laundry, reading a book, whatever. I know I will pay for it in the morning. I know that by tomorrow afternoon, I will be at the warehouse in desperate need of caffeine and afraid of being sleepy on the drive home.

And yet, here I am.

Apparently I have ALWAYS been this way. My mother swears that my sleep-challenging children are God's way of giving me a little taste of my own medicine, and I realize at times just like this - post-midnight moments of clarity that almost always disappear by morning - that she might just be right.

The question on my mind tonight is this: what do you...our loyal fans...readers...customers...representatives...hostesses...friends...what do you want to see here on the blog? What do you want to see from a line of children's clothing like ours? What makes you want to attend a show? Buy a garment? Host a show? Become a Representative?

While I have a knack for making it all about me, in reality, it is all about you. We want to hear from you. So....Comment. Email. Call. Facebook. Tweet. Whatever. Just use your voice, and we'll do our best to hear you.

And don't worry....I will remember that I asked for it tomorrow.

Good Afternoon!

Good afternoon, my e-friends! Can you believe June is almost over?

Orders are flowing in from our fan-tabulous Three Mommas Representatives and Hostesses...this is always one of my favorite times. I love seeing on paper what combinations you genius ladies have put together, then watching as it comes out an actual garment. As someone that has ABSOLUTELY no sewing skills, it always amazes me how talented (if I do say so myself) our Production Manager and staff are! Not to mention how talented all of you "designers" are as well!

We will take orders through the first week of September, and will have the updated calendar, Web site, album showing options, etc. live later this week. And don't forget, the Spring/Summer CLEARANCE will start later this week, with all items (except swimsuits) priced at least 50% off! Smocked suits will be $39, so stock up for next Spring/Summer!

Back to work...

I am issuing a challenge to each of you...

Did that get your attention? Are you feeling up to it? Are you the type of person that, when dared to do something - even if it is pointless and completely irrelevant to your life - MUST do it?

Were you the kid that tasted dirt because your sister thought you wouldn't? That turned the light off in the closet and counted "Bloody Mary 1, Bloody Mary 2, Bloody Mary 3..." even though you KNEW some ghostly hag was going to slap you in the face for daring to disturb her? The one that almost passed out at least twice a summer for trying to hold her breath longer than any of the other kids at the pool party?

If so - AWESOME. I am speaking to you specifically.

It is my goal to hit 400 Facebook fans by the Fourth. I am challenging anyone and everyone that reads this blog to click on the "Suggest to a Friend" link on the Three Mommas FB page and send it to at least 5 friends. Just think, the more people that become Fans, the more people that will see Three Mommas, and in turn, might send it to their friends, and so on and so forth....and ultimately, might end up at your show! Not to mention, there are benefits to being "in the know"...we post our sales, discount codes, pictures, etc. on the Blog and FB first!

Let's see if we can push the numbers from 370 to 400+!

While you are at it, don't forget that we are still booking shows. If you have a friend that doesn't have Three Mommas in her area, or that would like to do a show, contact us and receive a $50 show credit if she books a show. It is that simple! Specific areas we would like to fill this season include Prattville/Montgomery; Atlanta; Alpharetta; Valdosta; Charleston; Jacksonville; Dallas; Augusta; St. Simons; Richmond and more!

Some Things are Hard to Believe...

Things that are hard for me to believe this week:

1. We are back from our second beach trip in the last 3 weeks, and I am actually happy to be on a vacation from vacationing (does that make any sense?).

2. It is my 10th anniversary this Friday...yikes!

3. July is almost here...which means my birthday is almost here...32 (did I just admit to my age?).

4. We are in our third week of shows already!!

5. Our GIANT 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 Spring/Summer sale starts next week...cleaning out the warehouse!

Here are a few pictures from a recent photo shoot. By next week we will have pictures of the entire trunk, fabric options, inserts, etc. available online for everyone. For now, check out the "Photo Gallery" section of www.threemommas.com for more pictures!

Technology, How I Loathe Thee...

Okay, so that's sort of a strong statement. I mean, obviously, I really like technology...might even love technology...much of the time.

Wish technology felt the same way about me.

Some of you might recall that faithful day in February when I finally got my Blackberry. Oh, the joy I felt at being constantly connected to my email, never being required to open my computer to see what was going on with work or my friends. And then, you might recall that day in March when we accidentally ran over said Blackberry, and the misery that followed.

Insurance claim #1, Blackberry #2.

Then, last week...dropped the new Blackberry and the screen died.

Insurance claim #2, Blackberry #3.

I also have a Canon Rebel digital camera with all the lenses and other cool accessories...takes great pictures and I love, love, love it. Pulled it out to do pictures of the Fall/Winter line a couple of weeks ago. Won't power up. Sad, sad, sad.

I receive an Amazon Kindle for Christmas. It was backordered until March (you know Oprah and her Favorite Things) and the day I received it was a day I will never forget...And this weekend, the screen went out. Boo, hoo, hoo.

And now...my laptop. Thing goes crazy 2 weeks ago and apparently has about 42,753 viruses on it. I just dropped it off with the computer folks, and am using my dinosaur laptop. Might cost more to repair than a new computer.

Maybe I will get my Macintosh G4 cube fixed instead (oh yeah, that broke like 2 years ago).

Guess I am just feeling a little sorry for my tech-challenged self. Or, maybe the moral of the story is.....

Don't loan me your iPod??!!

Friday, June 12, 2009

A few pictures...

Just a few pictures of Fall/Winter items. We have some posted at the Three Mommas site, but just a sample. The entire collection will be posted by late June, and next week we will have more pictures of our little models in the clothing.

I'm Pulling My Hair Out...

Well, not really. But I am freaking out a little bit. I mean, we ship trunks this week. THIS WEEK?!! Did you hear me? Crazy, huh?

I will spare you all of the details. Sufficed to say, life has been a bit crazy the last week or so. You might not remember, but there were a few things I learned while preparing to ship the last trunk (that I shared with you all here)...well, I have learned a few more this go-around.

I am up late packing. Yes, packing. You heard me. I am actually going to be out of town...GASP...when the trunks ship. My brother-in-law, who is living the dream in Chicago, is at my in-laws' house till Wed., and the boys and I haven't seen him in close to a year, so to SC I go. Just typing this is making my palms sweaty and my heart race. If I don't end up driving back home just so I can watch them ship them out of the warehouse, it'll be a miracle.

Though, I do have to tell you, I have a little secret for dealing with stress. It is a short-term fix, and while temporary, it is a great remedy for a few minutes of sanity. Want to hear it? It is kind of a secret...shhhh...don't tell...

come closer...

that's it...

just two little words...

Billy Idol.

Who can be stressed out while jamming to "Mony, Mony" or "White Wedding?" I dare you, next time you think a full-blown anxiety attack is on the horizon, to crank up the volume to Mr. Idol and see if he doesn't wipe those blues away!! Though, I do not recommend doing it at 12:45 a.m....but if you do decide to have a late-night rendevous with him, wear headphones like yours truly. I am sure your visions of me dancing around my room packing my suitcase are amusing. I don't care. I'm dancing with myself :), and that's all that matters at the moment.

So now you know my secret. Don't tell anyone.

Psst...one more...want to see a few Fall/Winter pics? We are adding pictures to this album for the next 2 weeks, and then will have the kids' pics on the front page soon too, but here is where you can watch our progress for the time being...click here.

BTW, don't forget - we are still adding Spring/Summer stuff to the sale!

Goodnight!!

Anticipating Fall/Winter with our SPRING/SUMMER SALE!

I feel pulled in a million directions, and I am sure that none of my fellow mothers have ever experienced this, right? Ha, ha...I think we all feel like this from time to time, if not ALL of the time. Fall/Winter trunks ship next week (which just seems crazy :), school just got out, we have a couple of trips coming up...ARGH!! It is wonderful, but nuts all at the same time.

We are launching our Spring/Summer Liquidation sale today, and our FB and Blog friends are the first to know (well, technically, our Reps already had a day to shop...)! Let me explain how it works:

This sale will include ALL MERCHANDISE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ON THE WEB SITE. The current price on all garments is at least 25% off (except the suits, which are a little less). Using the sale coupon, you will get an ADDITIONAL 30% off (so everything is around half-price). Also, spend $100 and receive FREE shipping!

We will be adding items almost daily this week and next, so be sure to check back often. However, do not wait to buy, because quantities are limited and once it is gone, it is gone! We are doing our best to see that the computer keeps up with the inventory correctly, but if something you purchase is sold out we will notify you immediately.

To take advantage of the sale, use SSSALE09 on checkout.

Don't forget that we are STILL booking shows for Fall/Winter...

Today, I was thinking...Happiness is...

Watching as your five-year-old son and his cousins show off all they learned at swimming lessons the first week out of school...
And the comfort that comes with knowledge that, if he falls in the pool again, he should at least make it to the side and not sink straight to the bottom.

Watching Disney/Pixar's UP in 3D with the kids...
And having your son squeeze your hand when he sees, through the glasses, that five minutes into the movie you are already crying.

Putting your little angels in the bed and reading them a story after a day of summer play...
And listening to them argue and kick each other over their super-hero names until they fall asleep.

Happiness is...

Planning your anniversary trip to London, when you've never been to Europe....
And hoping some handy-dandy prescription keeps your irrational fear of flying from getting in the way.

The little things...like finally matching lots of the socks in the "mismatched socks" bucket...
And then finally admitting defeat and throwing those that have been in the bucket for 2 years in the trash can.

Cleaning up the kitchen quickly after dinner so you can have more family time...
Because you used paper plates and tossed them in the trash after dinner (and feeling a teensy-weensy bit bad about the tree that gave its life for this luxury...but, not that bad...).

Happiness is...

Mommy getting to give into guilty pleasures without feeling guilty...

Re-reading the Harry Potter series in anticipation of the coming movie...
And realizing that you are more knowledgeable about Quidditch than you are the NBA.

Setting your DVR to record the MTV Movie Awards, because, you know, you're still relatively young and hip.
And then you can get a glimpse of the premiere of the new Twilight New Moon trailer and a little Edward time (okay, so I feel a little guilty about this....)

Getting a well-deserved and much-needed pedicure.
And tipping $5 extra because you are so mortified that she had to touch your nasty feet.

Happiness is spending these great summer days with family and friends...
And realizing it is only Saturday night, and you still have one more whole weekend-day to go before Monday!

Why Didn't I Think of This? PERFECT!!

The ability to invent or design something is one that I am truly amazed by. I mean, think of the Twitter craze, Facebook, the iPod...dare I say it...the Snuggy!? Someone sees a need for something, or a void that his/her idea would fill, acts on it and there you go. Next thing you know, its the next biggest craze, leaving the rest of us to say "Why didn't I think of that?"

Which brings me to my point...

I recently discovered that the mother of a college friend at UF came up with a little something that I personally think is genius. I cannot tell you how many times I could have used one of these, and how many times I thought "Someone has GOT to come up with something to help with this!" And so, I introduce you to...

The Nuzy.

This little gem will fit around your infant carseat handle to make it more comfortable to carry. You can choose a grosgrain ribbon trim, a monogram, or even some crystals (for a little BLING for baby) to customize it (you know we love custom here). It velcros on and off and can even be washed, for goodness sake! Then, when your child outgrows the infant seat, you can use it on the stroller, the cooler handle (football games, anyone?), anything you pull or carry...then on the seatbelt strap once your little one is in his/her booster seat.

I am in awe of this contraption. I mean, so simple in so many ways...but so fabulously useful at the same time!! The perfect baby shower present!!

Check it out: www.nuzybaby.com

You Asked for It...

Several of you have asked us for a little more information about ourselves...who we are, how we met, what made us start Three Mommas, that sort of thing. Well, at the risk of boring you all, I do aim to please, so here goes...

Let's start with yours truly...

Hi! I'm Tara. Ashley and Kelly are my partners in chaos. Ashley and I have been friends since we met in 8th grade, and Kelly is one of my sisters. I'll save more about them and about the start of Three Mommas for later.

In the interest of brevity, I will list some of the more interesting details of my life. I will go ahead and warn you, I am reaching a bit with "interesting":

-I have 2 sisters, and I am the oldest

-We have quite possibly the most wonderful parents and familial relationship that exists in the world. I can only hope that my family (husband and boys) are as close as my family is.

-I was an avid equestrian throughout my childhood and well after I graduated from college. My family owns/breeds/shows Arabians and Half-Arabians. While it still a passion of mine, I haven't had much time to devote to it since the birth of my boys. However, it is something that I hope to get back to later this year.

-I started dating my husband in high school, and we've been married almost 10 years.

-I attended the University of Florida and was a Chi Omega there.

-I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease in 1997 after going to the infirmary with what I thought was mono. After chemo I planned to return to UF, but discovered right at Christmas that I was not in remission. After a round of radiation I was declared in remission, and have been ever since 1999.

-I transferred to the University of Georgia and received my degree in Journalism (public relations).

-I worked in PR in Atlanta for a while, then taught high school English/Debate at my Alma Mater for a couple of years.

-My first son was born in 2004 and my second in 2007. They are the most wonderful, amusing and lovable little darlings in the world. Everyday they amaze me...

-I have lots of interests, but little time. My children, husband, house, family and Three Mommas keep me pretty busy...I love to read, and welcome any/all book suggestions!

-My birthday is coming up in July...so far, my only request is that some escort me to Harry Potter at IMAX on July 15 (did I mention that I am a HUGE dork?).

Well, that's about it. I will save the story of starting Three Mommas for another time, and will also fill you guys in on Kelly and Ashley. Maybe I will see if I can talk them into coming around the blog and filling you in themselves...

Off to bed...going to try to get more Fall/Winter pictures up and more taken if we ever get some sun here in Georgia...

A Few Fall/Winter Pictures...

A few "leftovers" from a recent photo shoot. Now, keep in mind that the weather didn't want to cooperate that day, the kids were all sniffly and sick, some of the sizes were off (Charlie just HAD to wear the purse dress top, though it was a bit large on her), and everyone wanted to stop taking pictures and PLAY! We didn't do the boys that day (except for the one picture below), but I promise we have some really cute things in store for girls and boys this season!

the new swing dress...

the tunic top in blue ivy...

the tractor-trailer truck...

charlie was over it, but really liked this peasant blouse...

this is the one she HAD to wear...

she wasn't feeling well, but our resident princess still did her best...
More to come soon! And, don't forget to keep on the lookout for a special coupon for Blog/FB visitors! Remember, our Spring/Summer samples are already 25% off online (as always at the end of a season)...if you didn't receive a $10 coupon for online orders, email us and we'll send you that coupon code!

Do You Read the News?

Okay, I'm exhausted. I don't know if it is allergies, a cold, the fact that I am rundown or what. I am not sleeping, don't feel well and, if you haven't picked up on this yet, I am kind of a baby about it. I just want to curl up in bed for a day and sleep this thing off.

But alas, that isn't to be!

So, tonight I am already in the bed, waiting for the Nyquil to kick in. I decide to spend a few minutes perusing the news, both local and national. And, all I can say is...

WOW.

Maybe we are just so desensitized in general that I don't usually notice the absolute craziness of the headlines we see on an average day. Maybe I am just so wiped that I am, for once, paying attention. Maybe the Nyquil is slowing my senses enough that the constant barrage of stimuli (work email, Facebook, personal email, news, etc.) isn't having its usual affect. Maybe the fact that my two-year-old is becoming a biter (you will realize the relevance of this in a sec) is hitting close to home. Who knows?

Headlines like "Man Bites Son's Eye Out,"(note my current predicament with my toddler), "Despondent Dads Kill Families" and "Baby Found in Sandbox" are right alongside "Who Should be the Next Idol" and "Why the GA/FLA Game Should Stay in Jax." I mean, YIKES!

I also noted one about a boy whose mother has disappeared with him because she does not want him to undergo chemotherapy for Hodgkins Lymphoma. This one hits particularly close to home as I am a survivor of Hodgkins myself, and while chemo/radiation and all of the testing involved is not pleasant, it works. What seemed awful at the time is now a relatively distant memory, and beyond the annual check-ups and the occasional oh-my-gosh-is-that-a-lump moments, I don't even think much about it. I hope the mother and the son are found and that all works out well for their family.

Maybe Grey's Anatomy from last week has made me a mushy mess?? Maybe I should just quit reading the news altogether??

Nah...definitely the Nyquil. But I am going to hug the family a little tighter in the morning.

Fall/Winter sneak peeks coming soon...I promise!

First of all, DON'T SPOIL IT!!

Sweet Husband and I were out at an event last night, and I have yet to watch the season finale of Grey's Anatomy. Like a great shoe sale, chocolate chip cookie dough, teenage vampire novels, Jake's Ice Cream and all Harry Potter movies, this show is one of my guilty pleasures and something from which I derive quite a bit of pleasure. I am overseeing the last week of shipping, trying to make sure everything gets out as it is supposed to, dealing with the last of the backordered pieces from one supplier, checking over Fall/Winter samples and cannot wait to drive the hour back to my house to pick up my wonderful children. I will let them play while McDreamy, McSteamy, Mere and the crew at Seattle Grace entertain me one final time this season. That certainly isn't going to win me Mom of the Year, but I don't think it will do any lasting damage either, right?

Okay, so I know that no one is interested in me watching Grey's Anatomy....on to more important things, like children's clothing!

Here we have the first quick image of a Fall/Winter sample. Now, bear in mind this isn't an "official" picture. Again, this was snapped on my phone, but I think it is cute and wanted to share it:

An official preview is soon to come, so be watching for that on the Web site. We will also be starting our annual Sample Sale soon, so if there was something in the trunk in your little one's size, get ready! A special blog/FB coupon is also coming, so keep checking in!

Have a FABULOUS weekend!!

In or Near Atlanta? Check out Divine Consign Liquidation Sale this Week...

In or near Atlanta? You might want to check out the HUGE children's clothing sale in Buckhead Thursday and Friday! Lots of lines will be there (including Three Mommas) - Kate & Libby, Brinkley's Berries, Coco BonBons, and more. We'll have some Spring/Summer samples on sale there (FYI...our samples are ALWAYS available at the end of the season!), along with some past season pieces at deeply-discounted prices. A great way to stock up on more stuff for warm weather! Check it out at http://www.dcskids.com/!

Bad news is, I have to work tomorrow...

But the good news is, hubby and I are staying in Atlanta overnight near the workroom, so I can scoot over there before my niece's birthday party! We are down to the last bit of shipping, so if you don't have your order yet, you will VERY soon! And believe it or not, no one is happier than I am about it (except for maybe the whole crew at Three Mommas, and possibly those of you leaving for the beach this week that really, really, really need your clothes, and maybe my husband and children since I have been so neurotic with shipping...).

There are a few "backordered" items that will also be shipping in the next week - some t-shirts and a few pieces with one particular smocked insert. Again, those should be complete in the next week too. Thank you all for your patience!

I know I showed everyone pictures of my wonderful, fan-tabulous boys last night...now here are my beautiful nieces. If my boys or these girls look familiar to you, it is because they've been our "models" since Three Mommas was started in 2006 (along with Ashley's two girls)!

Aren't they cute?? I am talking about the dresses, of course....

Shameless, I Know...My Boys...

Okay, some of you have been asking me lately about myself and my family. Here are my boys...

This is my oldest, Mac.

This is my youngest, Hudson.

We had some pictures taken tonight for Mother's Day...I am exhausted. I don't know how any of them turned out okay, as it was absolute chaos. We went along with Kelly's three girls, and it took 4 adults and the photographers to keep everyone remotely in line! We'll probably get them on the new Web site ASAP!

How 'bout a little Fall?

I wish I could tell you I had a fancy-schmancy preview of our Fall/Winter season for you, but alas...that's not the case. I do, however, have a few pics of just a sampling of our Fall/Winter fabrics taken on an manilla envelope with my Blackberry. NOT fancy, but you get the picture.
Here are a few of the girly fabrics we have this season. We do have more florals/prints that are not pictured, and of course the standard corduroys, checks, etc. that you can always expect. I am loving all them, and to me they all have a very different look. We are also using several non-corduroy solids this season, so all of us Southerners can get a little longer wear out of these clothes!

I know these are basic, but I just love them...chocolate, royal and soft pink houndstooth. This fabric is almost a little brushed, and very soft and snuggly.

Here are a few of the plaids that we have selected, along with more non-corduroy solids. Some great, rich colors that are perfect for cool days, football, and the Fall/Winter holidays. Again, there are more - this is just an example of what is to come!

Back to work...

Let's Talk Shoes...

Okay, so shoes are like my favorite thing in the world. Next to my children, of course. And my husband. And I do love my dog...you get the drift. I love, love, love shoes. And believe that you can never have enough of them, though I know admitting that, particularly in our current economic environment, is sort of a faux pas. But, it isn't just expensive shoes that I love. I am equal-opportunity shoe fanatic. I adore my polka-dotted flip flops and my $11 Key West Kinos as much as the fanciest pair I have in my closet.

And this is why: shoes can make me feel beautiful or pretty, powerful or dainty, cute and carefree, like a lady, a diva or a child, and, most importantly, with the exception of that crazy foot-growth during pregnancy, I am NEVER too fat for my shoes.

So it is really no surprise that I am a big fan of children's shoes too. And, I just have boys. Goodness help me if I were buying for girls.

Which brings me to my point...have any of you heard of Live and Luca? We "met" them online when we were just starting out, and though I haven't spoken to them in years, the ladies that owned it were just as nice as they could be. They started out just selling online and at shows, though they have since started selling wholesale. Their shoes are simply ADORABLE, and super-comfy for little feet. My now five-year-old son made his way through several pair of elephant shoes over the years, and they were always his favorite. And now they have them not only in brown, but in LIME too!!

If you love fun shoes for your kids, check them out at http://www.livieandluca.com/. And before you ask, no, this isn't benefiting me in any way. As a matter of fact, I ordered a pair of the lime elephants online at midnight last night, and can't wait for them to get here.

If only I could get away with lavender shoes on the boys...

Some of you have asked...

what we do with the pieces that you send back for a size exchange. Well, honestly, in the past they've just sort of sat on a rack, or, if they fit our children, went home to our closets. This season, we'll be adding them to the "Online Shopping" portion of the Web site. And yes, they will be discounted. EVERYTHING on the site is AT LEAST 25% off retail, and of course, you receive free shipping on orders over $100. Now, you don't get to design your garments, so it isn't quite as much fun! However, there are/will be some pretty cute stuff there, so keep checking it out.

REMEMBER, WE WANT TO SEE PICTURES!! :)

A Couple of So-Stinkin'-Cute Things...

Sometimes simplicity turns out the best. I mean, how adorable??

And let me tell you, I can just see this romper running around a birthday party. How precious??!!

Back to work!! Hope everyone's day is WONDERFUL!!
Don't forget to send pictures for the Photo Gallery on the Web site!

Refer your friend...earn $50!

Now come on...what has she done for you lately? You know who I am talking about - that friend of yours from college, or high school, or your first job. The one you don't get to talk to as often as you would like, because of course she is busy (and so are you) with her kids, her friends, her volunteer work, etc. However, you Facebook each other periodically and do get a few minutes on the phone whenever you need to tell her about her old flame that you ran into in town (the one that left her at that Mixer without so much as a goodbye. I mean, who takes off with a girl from the other house and leaves his date without so much as a clue? And HER??!! Who is he kidding? You are/were SOOOOO much cuter than her anyway, and didn't he know she was dating that other guy? The nerve...

Wait, I'm getting carried away. Where were we?

Oh, anyway - your friend. The one from out of town. Tell her she needs to contact Three Mommas about becoming a Representative or a Hostess. It is lots of fun, the clothes are adorable, and if she tells us that you referred her you will earn a $50 show credit. You can use the credit at our Fall/Winter shows, or can make a purchase on the new Web site with it.

She borrowed your little black dress - the one that you wanted to wear and she talked you out of. She cried on your shoulder that night. She made you wear that gosh-awful bridesmaid dress. And you love her, but she owes you. A $50 show credit is a good place to start!

I know...I know....

I haven't posted, and there is no excuse!! Well, maybe there is an excuse, but more on that later...

First of all, you will find the first of our pics of cute combinations below. These actually belong to one of our FANTABULOUS Three Mommas Representatives, and she always does the cutest combos! Great job, Lisa - can't wait to see pictures of them in these adorable dresses!

Many of you have received your Spring/Summer orders - thank you to all for all of the messages about how much you like them! We are continuing to ship and will be shipping like mad until all orders are out the door. I know it is hard to be patient, but please keep in mind that orders take approximately 12 weeks from the time they are submitted by the Representative to process. Now, many ship earlier than that, but it can take the full 12 weeks, and even then there can be occasional backorders due to supplier delays, corrections, blah, blah, blah...we know you want your items and will get them to you as quickly as possible.

When you receive your orders, please send pictures of your darling children in them, as (drumroll, please)....

THE NEW WEB SITE IS UP!!

Check out the new and improved http://www.threemommas.com/! We have a photo gallery of all the adorable pictures we have received of little ones in our items, new Rep/Hostess info areas, and the ability to order pre-made Three Mommas items! Representatives, tell your customers to enter your name on checkout and you will receive your Rep commission on orders...now you can receive credit ALL YEAR LONG on your sales!

We'll have more available to purchase online soon, and other cool stuff coming.

Okay, back to work...the weather warms up late this week, which means we all need our clothes!!

Friday, March 27, 2009

Just a quick post...

We'll post the first of our favorite, too-stinkin'-cute combinations on Monday! Everyone have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Thursday, March 26, 2009

I'm a bad blogger...

I know I am a horrible blogger. I have broken the blogging code by going ENTIRELY too long without a post and for that I am extremely sorry. You know me...been sitting around, watching soaps and eating bon bons, not a care in the world. That's what us moms do, right?

MMMM HMMM...not quite.

We have been busy, busy, busy making some of the most adorbale Spring/Summer clothing I have seen in a long time. It never ceases to amaze me just what you all can come up with. You would think that I would know every combination, every possibility when it comes to Three Mommas, but several times a week I am blown away with something that comes off the production line.

And now, you can be too!

Starting tomorrow, we'll be posting some of our favorites a couple of times a week. This way I can't ignore my blogging duties, and you guys can share in some of the fun! We'll begin shipping next week as well, so some of you will be getting your Three Mommas orders very soon.

We have lots more super-exciting things going on...at the moment, I am sworn to secrecy. However, check the site and the blog often for the next week or so, and you'll get to see what's in store!

Back to my bon bons.... : )

Oh, one more thing...we need pictures of your children wearing their Three Mommas clothing for the Web site. So, if you have some you don't mind sharing, please send them to info@threemommas.com. Please state in the message that you give us permission to use it on the Web site. Thanks!!

Apologies...and chocolate...and sushi...

Happy Valentines Day!

I have been boring lately. I know I have been, and ladies, I am sorry! I could give you all of the usual excuses...things have been busy, kids are sick/have parties to attend/keep me crazy in general, lots of Three Mommas stuff to attend to, too many clothes to wash...you know the usual suspects, and are probably as busy, if not more so, than me!

Production is cranking along at Three Mommas...Representatives, you guys entering your own orders as you receive them has been AWESOME and so helpful on the back-end! As for what has been popular, all of the new styles have been doing really well, and of course, the swimsuits are super-popular. As they should be - have you seen them? (I know you guys are all rolling your eyes at me...wishing I would stop with the swimsuit obsession!!) The Easter garments have also done well, and we will be shipping most of the ones already ordered early this week.

I know...here I am posting, and it is a boring post itself. Let's see...anything interesting? I just broke down and purchased a Blackberry so that I can communicate more easily with all of the FABULOUS Three Mommas representatives, and it should be working on Monday! I am currently sitting at a coffee shop, will be getting sushi here shortly and going to see a movie. This is what I do with my husband on V-Day, when the boys are with their aunt. See, it isn't just my posts that are boring!

Wishing you all chocolate, roses, bubble baths and happiness on this Hallmark Holiday! Or, at the very least, coffee and sushi!!

The First Step to Overcoming a Problem...

is to admit that you have one, right?? I mean, that's what I have always been told, and it makes sense.

I have a problem, ladies.

We drove up to the beach this evening...to visit my in-laws. A short weekend away at Edisto, and I couldn't be looking more forward to it. The weather should be superb, the beach at Jeremy Cay is secluded and very private, I can get some alone time and the boys will have a blast.

We pull up and I can smell the ocean. You all know what I am talking about...the breeze, the salt, the smell. And what immediately comes to mind?

Man, how cute will the Swimsuits be on the beach this summer?!

Are you kidding?? Seriously?? I mean, SERIOUSLY!!

That Which Does Not Kill You...

I know, I know...makes you stronger. I have a love/hate relationship with this particular adage, but I suppose it is true. You know the other old saying..."When it rains, it pours..."? I take issue with that lately too. Only because it is hitting a little close to home these days.

And here I am, off on another one of my personal-life tangents. Oh, lucky y'all!

Many of you probably heard about the great shipping debacle that was last week. If you didn't, consider yourself lucky. I have semi-blocked it from my mind, so I won't re-hash the entire thing here. Sufficed to say it was a nightmare - an absolute, complete, total, horrifying nightmare. One that kept me glued to my computer and telephone, pleading, cursing, and flat-out begging the shipping company (wonder who that was?) to get their act together.

All to no avail.

In the end, thanks only to our wonderful, awesome, fan-tabulous Three Mommas Representatives, we miraculously didn't have to cancel a single show!! Seriously, our Reps ROCK! Thank you to everyone that pitched in and helped during the crisis...I cannot thank you enough!

Oh, and in case you were wondering what was so bad (I mean, as if gray hair, ulcers, sleepless nights and fights with the Montgomery, AL hub director aren't enough)...both boys had Scarlet Fever last week, and yours truly is now suffering from a sore throat and what I fear is an ear infection. However, I am still so relieved that we made it through last week and that the boys are feeling better that I will take it!

I know my life cannot be the only crazy one...I don't wish it on any of you, but tell me that I am not the only one!

Oh, and since this is a blog about children's clothing...have you checked out the swimsuits? I mean, they are simply a must-have for this summer and are proving to be just as popular as we thought they'd be!

Where Does the Time Go?

I don't just mean where do the hours in the day go. As mothers, grandmothers, aunts, wives, friends, employees, caretakers, we all know that there just are not enough hours in the day to accomplish everything that we have to do. Though I must say, I do know some women that can squeeze much more out of 24 hours than I manage to (my sister - the "third momma", and my mother, for instance). One of my resolutions this year is to become a list-maker, and so far I am getting a little better about that, though I still have a long way to go.

And what was my point, again?

Oh, that's right....time. Time in general just slips by so quickly that, at times, something comes along and....SMACK! I realize just how much time truly does fly.

Today, I went to my neice's 5th birthday. Now, I know that 5 is still young. But, cliched though it may sound, it really does seem like just yesterday that Ashley, Kelly and I were all three giddy with the anticipation of three little babies. And now, those babies are turning 5. It just blows my mind, and I know that I am going to turn around one day soon and they'll be 10, then 15, then 20...
You know, everyone always told me this would happen, but it is shocking nonetheless. I try to reflect on these sorts of moments and turn them into something productive...I want to channel this crazy feeling into making more of the time with my little guys. I want to keep them babies as long as I can, though at almost 5, my oldest is really more of a "kid" than baby at this point. Maybe this is why I catch a hard time from some of my husband's friends about dressing him the way I do...? Oh, well. As they say, they are only little once!

At any rate, I am dazed, tired, and off to bed. However, I will leave you with a few more pictures from the end of last week...(you knew there had to be SOME reason you were reading this!!):

Patch Dress with Pink Anchor Patch

Boys Peter Pan Shirt with Blue Anchors/Bloomers
Swim Top with Blue Palm Trees, Swim Skirt bottoms
A-Line Top with Carriage Applique, Bloomers
The entire collection will be at www.threemommas.com in the next couple of days, and some other neat things are coming up there as well, so check it out soon. We have also added lots of shows, and will update the dates/locations early this week.
Goodnight!

Note to Self...

Every season, in preparing for it to begin and for trunks to ship, we inevitably learn a few things. Keep in mind that, on the whole, we are a fairly new line of clothing. I only mention this to emphasize the fact that we are still very much learning. I've been compiling a few notes for myself this season, and they include (but are certainly not limited to) the following...humor me here, folks...

1. Keep an extra key handy at all times. By handy, I mean one with your car keys, one in the main building, one in the warehouse, one in the bushes, one in your pocket, one under a rock, two with your production manager and one in your purse. Not a bad idea to attach at least one to a piece of 2x4, like those keys to gas station bathrooms on the way to the beach. Not that I have ever used one of those, but...

2. When the nice lady at the gas company assures you they only have the gas off for maintenance for a few hours, a day at the most (and therefore, you have no heat), do not believe her. Remember, she is sitting in a toasty 65 degree office...she has no idea what it feels like to try to squeeze the trigger on a tag gun in a 30 degree warehouse, nor does she believe you when you explain that hundreds of mothers will hunt you down with pitchforks if you "just go home until the heat comes back on. These shipments can't wait a few more days?? I mean, who buys Spring clothes now?!"

3. DO NOT plan to ship trunks on any sort of holiday. First of all, working on a holiday stinks. Secondly, there is no camaraderie amongst those working on a holiday. The guy at the office supply store and the woman at the shipping company aren't going to relate to you and/or share a moment as a fellow non-holidayer. As a matter of fact, you are why they are at work, the reason they are not enjoying the day off, so not only are you not a friend...you are the enemy. No, he does not know where the packing tape can be found, and she has no idea when the trucks run today. Which, in turn, reminds you that it stinks to work on a holiday...and so on and so forth.

4. Hello??!! Little thing called the Inauguration happens on January 20. Remember to review your calendar, and more importantly, your American History, before you schedule your shows. Maybe ask your kindergartner to assist you if you need help....Dummy.

5. That pesky little troll that loves to steal a few pieces each season (the pieces that were cut, put into production, tagged during inventory and placed in the warehouse) will decide to come earlier each time you are preparing for shows. It will inevitably steal more and more pieces each season, just to keep you on your toes. He likes to eat hang tags, scissors, receipts, socks, and keys too...beware.

6. Sleep is not possible this time of the year. Quit fighting it and just accept it. Use this time to catch up on your reading, your soap operas, your re-runs of ER, Law & Order, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Unsolved Mysteries, Cheaters, etc. Of course, lack of sleep is totally unrelated to forgotten keys and Inaugurations.

7. No one cares that you forgot your key. No one cares that you aren't sleeping. No one cares that the warehouse heat was conveniently turned off during freezing temperatures. Nor should they. They want to see pictures of bathing suits, Easter dresses and Jon Jons. GET THE PICTURES UP!

8. When it all seems like some sort of cosmic joke, and you just know that at any minute, the guy from Candid Camera or Ashton Kutcher himself is going to come around the corner and tell you that you were Punk'd, one of the Reps/Customers/Hostesses (we have the best ones EVER!!) will call, email or comment on the blog that she loves everything and cannot wait to see the rest.

And then, you'll know it was all worth it!

Don't Shoot Me!!

I know I said that I would have pictures up this weekend. And when I said it, I fully intended for that to be the case. By golly, all of the pictures would be taken this weekend, come rain, sleet, snow or hail (and we have had 3 of 4 in the last 24 hours, btw). And we are up here, at the warehouse, ready to take pictures.

Except that I left my key at home, and cannot get in my building.

I'm not kidding. I left it. Oh, I can get in the main building, just not the warehouse where most of the samples sit, ready as can be for their big debut.
So here we are, me and the camera folks, ready to go...with no key. I could drive home and get it, but being as I live over an hour away, this doesn't make much sense. There is plenty of other stuff to do to prepare for tomorrow. My production manager is not working today, enjoying a much-needed Sunday, so calling him seems like a bad idea.

We did manage to get some pictures shot today, rain and no key be darned, so here we go with those. Remember, this is only a few of the garments, but at least it's something!

Brown Seersucker Suit with Bloomer Bottoms (Pink Anchors Smocking)

Peasant Blouse in Picnic Check with White Pique Tie Shorts

Strap Dress in Turquoise Seersucker with Celebration Smocking

Boys Patch Bubble in White Pima with Blue Anchor Patch

Boys Cargo Swim Trunks in Preppy Plaid with Cobalt Pique Pockets

Girls Swimsuit with Bloomer Bottoms in Hot Pink Seersucker (Fun Fish Smocking)
To see all of the pictures we have taken so far, visit
http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLanding.action?c=zp5hoxm.bq7etc52&x=0&y=-ebt6ju&localeid=en_US. These, along with pictures of all of the samples, will be on the Web site at www.threemommas.com/collection.html ASAP!
